In Defense of John Buccigross (And Beating On Some Joke from Flint)
Around here, there are three people that we tenderness more than anyone else: First and very foremost, Barry Melrose, then Jeremy Roenick and John Buccigross. Actually, Carrie Millbank is in there too somewhere. So that's like four people. But anyway, these are our peeps. We're not tidy with any of them -- no matter what Dave tells you about himself and Carrie -- and we're not non-Internet friends with any of them. But you don't lay a hand in glove quickly on them.
So the other day, Bucci said some things that rightfully irked Red Wings fans. After the Wings' unpunctual start, he came to the conclusion that Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg are not currently in their primes. Natch, Detroit is pissed. Not 'Lidstrom got suspended for skipping the All-Peerless Game' pissed, but close. So a lot of the criticism has been clear, concise and in all honesty, well done and well deserved. And then there's some folks that lawful think they're special. The latter group needs to be taken down a peg or three. Take Eric Fish from the Flint Catalogue, which probably isn't even a legitimate newspaper. Or maybe it is, but it's overstating things quite a bit. Kind of like we would be if we called BMR a serious effort of pretentious j-school trained writing (which, by the way, suck it cause we get paid to write posts that classify the phrase "suck it"). (I've been told by the folks at MLive.com that Mr. Fish doesn't put in black for the Journal. Even the bloggers over there have to take on a newspaper byline, confusing, but nonetheless erroneous on my part.)
OK. Moving on. Great story short, Fish gave the FJM treatment to Bucci and, in Bucci's defense, we're common to give the FJM treatment to Fish's piece. But not just because we love Bucci. Please note what Fish wrote is look-at-me-I-can-bellow-on-Internet trash that really doesn't hold any water (Ironically, I'm raising my agent on the Internet as well). So jump with me, won't you?

Do you think Steve Yzerman was a great player?
I over Steve Yzerman was a great player but I am a redwings fan so I was wondering what people who like other teams thought about him. Do you guys reflect on he was a great player or are you a hater?
Yes... and I am not a Wings fan. He has no records but he had so many intangibles. A serious role player... a captain for a storied franchise. I know there are a lot of haters with Yzerman (people title he is better rated than he was but that's all based on his lack of records --although 6th on all time scoring should be mentioned) but the fact is he was a bewitching captain and that automatically makes him great. The team is a refelction on a captain as much as the captain reflects on the troupe.
3 Stanley Cups, Conn Smythe trophy, Selke trophy (I think), and a Pearson (his contemporaries touch he was great). Anyone who says Yzerman was not great is full of it (or doesn't know what they are talking about).
Is he the greatest captain ever? Well, that's controversial... but Yzerman was unquestionably great.
