Wondering about copy rights and vintage cards and images?
I see alot of people selling vintage images they got from vintage cards (birthday, christmas etc...) and then they put it on a cd and peddle it. First of all, why can they do it and then they tell us we cant use the images and make crafts and sell them. Also...how can I get these images and be able to use them to make small crafts to deal in?
What are the steps I need to do?

Copyrights close 70 years after the creator's death. So vintage patterns and art are becoming public domain. Once the person takes those images and puts them to cd you have to element the copyrights for that CD which includes not selling items made using the CD. Sometimes if you politely write to the maker of the CD you can be granted approbation. As far as getting vintage images you just have to start searching old people's attics and then you have to research the copyright. Which is frankly, a lot of business.
